Into The Light

by Oscar Cullinan

Oscar Oscar Salons Owner & Director, Oscar Cullinan, is thrilled to announce his place as a finalist in the 2017 Australian Hair Fashion Awards; Australian Hairdresser of the Year category, with his latest collection ‘Into the Light’.

Cementing his position as one of Australia’s most successful and truly creative hairdressers, ‘Into the Light’ is Oscar’s comeback collection following a two-year hiatus.

“Into the Light is a comeback collection of sorts’, says Oscar. ‘It actually tells a very personal story of mine, of a journey that was thrust upon me two years ago, one of those serendipitous moments in time that you have no control over…where you have to pick yourself up, accept your new reality and rethink your next move. This collection is the embodiment of that journey, while the journey itself feels incredibly arduous and even dark at times, there comes a time when you step into the light, fortified with the knowledge that you are much stronger and more capable than you ever realised, and yet fully aware of your own fragility.”

With references of the iconic nineties Vogue supermodels, Oscar drew on muses such as Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen, and Kate Moss. The provocative confidence of this genre accentuated by the celebration of individual natural beauty of this era is still powerful today.

The monochromatic lighting was a deliberate choice to really accentuate the sharp lines, shapes and shadows and truly capture that moment when one steps back into the light.

True to Oscar’s signature the collection oozes glamour, cool confidence and yet captures the fragility that lives within us all.

Oscar is thrilled to have been nominated a finalist in what is regarded as the highest honour in the industry in this country. This is a true testament to his incredible creative talent that continues to drive himself and the entire Oscar Oscar team forward each and every day.
