How to take care of your blonde hair

The sun is coming out and so are the highlights… It’s blonde season! So, how do you take the best care of your blonde hair?

Our guests at Oscar Oscar have all types of blonde tones because blonde is not one shade fits all. We love to tailor each blonde to suit your overall look and your overall vibe.

Golden Blonde

Golden sandy blonde looks gorgeous on people with warm undertones in their skin. These rich honey hues are the ultimate beachy vibe and look great with bronzey and brighter tones sprinkled throughout.

Vanilla Blonde

This blonde is the best of both worlds. It looks amazing on warm and cooler skin tones. Champagne tones throughout and allows for a muted or darker root so we love to incorporate this shade into a soft balayage or balaylites.

Caramel Blonde

We are living for caramel highlights this summer. It is a great way to add blonde to brunette hair. Emphasise and brighten up your features with bright face framers and melt your locks into sunkissed ends.

Toasted Coconut Blonde

Toasted coconut blonde is coming in HOT this year. If you have dark hair, this is such a flattering way to add some brightness and dimension to your locks. The contrast between bright icy blonde and chocolate hues are so flattering, especially when incorporated into a melty balayage with face framers.

Top 3 tips for maintaining your blonde

1. Keep it hydrated

Blondes tend to dry out through the colouring process, this can strip the hair of natural oils that keep your hair healthy. The good news is you can avoid split ends and promote soft, shiny hair. Use a rich conditioner in the shower and incorporate an ultra-hydrating hair masque/treatment into your weekly routine.

2. Protect from heat

Definitely get a good quality heat-protecting hair product. Blondes have fun in the sun but it’s just as important as sunscreen! You should protect your hair from high heat damage as well as harmful UVA and UVB rays – as they can cause dry and brittle strands and yellowy discolouration.

3. Create a colour stay routine

Two items is all you need: a blonde toner and a purple shampoo! These products will help maintain your colour by neutralizing the blonde and avoiding the brassy/yellow tones. We recommend the Kérastase Blond Absolu range (available on our online shop) and the Yūbi Blonde range by Shu Uemura.
