Colour Refresh with Candice of Oscar Oscar Salons

Colour Refresh

It’s time to freshen up girl! Here’s a colour refresh with Candice of Oscar Oscar Salons…

Sometimes you don’t need to do a complete transformation or hair overhaul to feel sparkling and new. Candice Salon Partner of our Toowoomba salon works her colour refresh wizardry to bring her guests back to ‘babe’. Especially after what is likely to have been a long stint in isolation.

“Sophie’s goal has been to lighten her hair for quite some time now. I wanted to brighten up around her face and give her a beautiful softened golden blonde. I utilised techniques from within our company to achieve this look. Being creative is what I love so utilising some freehand balayage in between our foil work where I can already see the visual of how it will look before I’ve even begun painting the hair with colour. Sophie was almost in tears as her goal has always been to be this light and with our skill, technique and creative flare we were able to create it for her” – Candice, Salon Partner – Oscar Oscar Salons

“To achieve the first colour, I used a lightener from Redken combined with a developer to help lift the colour. I also added pH-Bonder to the mix, in order to ensure that the hair’s health is maintained. (This is a must when lightening as it helps prevent damage to the hair.) I started with foils on the back of the head, and continued section by section until the entire head was foiled, using a fine slicing technique for maximum colour coverage”.

Foils to lighten

“Next, I moved onto balayage, focusing on the sections that weren’t foiled, using a fresh colour mixture. (This is super important for concentrated lightening.) I used a V technique to help balance the coverage and variation. I also teased lightly in between each foil that sits on top of the head to ensure a softer, and blended result”.

Balayage blonde

“After I rinsed the colour, we combed the hair in preparation for the gloss toner. (A gloss helps with shine and evens out the tones.) I applied two different glosses, one for the roots, and a brighter gloss for the ends. Once I rinsed out the gloss, I applied part two of the pH-Bonder treatment on towel-dried hair, which I left on for 20 minutes”.

Glamour blowdry!

“HOT TIP* Redken’s pH-Bonder Post-Service Perfector is available to purchase at all Oscar Oscar Salons. I recommend all my guests who colour their hair lighter to purchase the take-home PH Bonder and apply the treatment at home once a week to help repair the hair bonds”.

Healthy hair

“After rinsing the Bonder, I applied a Kerastase treatment to also help with the hair’s health, shine, and colour. Lastly, I applied Kerastase’s Elixir Oil for an added boost of hydration before blow-drying. To give the hair some texture, I added some loose waves with GHD’s Soft Curl Tong and Aveda’s non-aerosol Dry Shampoo which instantly revives the hair. I finished the look off with Kerastase’s Laque Couture hair spray that has built-in anti-frizz and flyaway control”.
