We interviewed our favourite TV host, model and style maven, Channel V's Carissa Walford, about what trends are hot for summer and why she love the team at Oscar Oscar Salons...

Describe your style… Effortless but chic, structured and "KEWL"

Who was your most memorable Channel V interview?

This year in 2014 I'm going to say Lilly Allen. We are too similar it freaked me out.

Tell us about your hair care routine?

I like to use Kérastase products, they have a different product to suit everyone's hair condition and for me, I'm blonde so i need to take extra care to keep my colour fresh and also keep my hair healthy and shiny.

What do you love most about Oscar Oscar Salons?

The people. There's nothing worse than visiting a salon of hairdressers that think they're rock stars. Having an ego doesn't always mean your good at what you do. I'm all about the quiet assassin, all the hairdressers at Oscar Oscar let their skill do the talking. I think it's also about feeling comfortable, having trust and being realistic with the outcome.

What hair trends are exciting you this summer?

Less is more, natural roots coming through and no fuss, low maintenance hair colours are in. I love that after a day in the salt water my hair can dry and look like I've styled it with sea salt spray.

What is your must-have hair product?

Kerastase Volume in Powder!

GET HER LOOK: "Carissa's colour is a variation of beautiful honey blondes, which compliments her skin tone. Carissa is the ultimate beach babe, so we always want her to look cool and effortless and not overdone. Using balayage is the perfect way to achieve this, with variations of blonde to create brightness around her face, as well as variation with warm honey tones. By using the balayage technique you can give the hair texture and added dimension." Amanda Kowalevsky

GET HER LOOK: Jessica Gomes

Posted on 2ND NOVEMBER 2014

Our ultimate girl crush, not only is Jessica Gomes a swimwear goddess and the face of David Jones, she is also one of our favourite Oscar Oscar Salon guests. We talk to Jess about her inspiration, favourite products and her ultimate travel destinations.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by my two sisters!

Your favourite travel destination?

My favourite travel destination is definitely the Dead Sea in Israel.

What is your hair care routine?

I like to keep it simple with Kérastase shampoo & conditioner, plus a weekly at-home treatment.

What do you love most about Oscar Oscar Salons?

I love the service and the people, Paloma Rose Garcia has been cutting my hair in the Sydney salon.

What is your must-have hair product?

I LOVE Kerastase Initialiste, it's amazing for creating stronger hair.

GET HER LOOK: "Jessica has been a guest of ours for almost 2 years. It is essential that Jess keeps her hair full and healthy, as it is regularly over-styled and damaged with her modelling work. When cutting I focus on creating a really great shape with long layers with soft ends to give her hair an effortless feel. Her hair shape also needs to be versatile to create a multitude of looks for her modelling work. For styling I like to use Redken Powder Grip to give her hair a tousled texture." Samantha Harris

Posted on 2ND JULY 2014

One of our favourite Australian models, Samantha Harris, defines natural beauty. For her recent Beauticate interview our Sydney hair stylist, Amanda Kowalevsky, created the perfect beach chic look using some of our favourite styling products.

- Prepare the hair with Kérastase Spray À Porter for perfect texture.

- Next curl the mid-lengths of the hair using tongs, making sure to direct the hair away from the face. By leaving out the ends of the hair you create a beachy effect.

- To create a looser wave simply rake your fingers through your hair.

- Finish the look with Shu Uemura Volume Maker volumising powder to create additional lift and volume at the roots for finer hair.

Bigger and better than ever... our Indooroopilly salon is now located in the new Indooroopilly Shopping Centre premium fashion mall situated amongst Australia's leading designer brands.

Originally the second Oscar Oscar location to open in Australia in 2005, the new 153 sq. m Indooroopilly salon features the signature minimal aesthetic, offset by Japanese black-stained timber features and bespoke lighting.

Oscar Cullinan, the twice-awarded Hairdresser of the Year said the relaunch of Indooroopilly came as the company was celebrating 25 years in business with 14 thriving salons across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

“2014 marks 25 years of business for the Oscar Oscar brand. It has been an exciting time for us, especially with the recent opening of the St Kilda salon earlier this year and now the re-opening of our luxurious new Indooroopilly space,” said Mr Cullinan.

Guests can experience the new Oscar Oscar Indooroopilly replete with a lush view thanks to the dramatic floor to ceiling window facing Keating Park, as well as a communal colour retreat zone equipped with iPads to entertain guests while their hair is transformed with the brands world-class colour expertise.

Our Oscar Oscar Salons creative Trend Team talk about their favourite looks for Winter 2014!

STRAWBERRY BLONDES by SARAH BROOKS: As worn by Sienna Miller, Jessica Chastain and Kate Bosworth, soft strawberry champagne and rose gold blondes are the hottest colour trend for winter. This look works well as an all-over colour or as feature highlights.

STRONG BOBS by Jacky Chan: As seen on the runway for Chanel and Marc Jacobs, strong structured bobs are a huge trend right now. The bob should be no longer than the chin, with strong lines and a solid, forward fringe.

The 'IT' Crop by Michelle McCallum: Short dishevelled crops are huge this season and are very versatile, either worn as a sleek smooth style or with natural messy texture. Jennifer Lawrence is a major style-inspiration for the perfect crop.

Cool & Smoky by Jessica Kane: Cool, smoky colour tones are a big trend for winter, with silver and titanium highlights. Jennifer Lopez and Amber Herd are ambassadors for this look which works with an ash base and looks great on people with bronzed skin tones.

Meet one of our newest team members, Rohan Dullabh from Oscar Oscar Salons in St Kilda.

Tell us a little bit about what you do at Oscar Oscar Salons? I like to keep my cuts simple and work with the natural texture of the hair. I love making a guest feel like a better version of themselves.

What is inspiring you right now? I thought the collision of colours and textures in the recent Chanel ready to wear show set in the supermarket was quite inspirational. I also find people watching interesting at the moment, especially in St Kilda where there is such an eccentric mix of people.

What are your hair predictions?

For men – Strong, short, military cuts/super short fades.

For women – Natural soft textures/shattered ends. Golden blondes/warm fruity.

Your favourite celebrity hairstyle of all time? I always think of Bo Derek and her cornrows – even though it is from the 70’s, it relates back to modern culture. There’s something really cool about blonde cornrows.

Product you can’t live without and why? Air Control from Aveda is my favourite hairspray and Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo is amazing… It leaves my hair radiant!

Describe your fashion style? My staple item is my black skinnies. I also have a lust for beautiful leather jackets.

The last song you played on your Ipod? Alisa by Cut Copy

What do you love most about Oscar Oscar Salons? From the moment I walked in everyone was friendly! Great culture and great team.

We interview our Gold Coast stylist Nicole Ireland from Oscar Oscar Salons in Pacific Fair about what's hot right now in hair.

Tell us a little bit about what you do at Oscar Oscar Salons? My signature hairdressing style is short cuts, because I love sculpting the hair and personalising it to my own style, it's is my creative outlet. I really like the strong shapes and lines you can create with short cuts.

What is inspiring you right now? I get a lot of inspiration from social media such as Pinterest which is the perfect mood board to research any look! I always research the latest hair trends and even Avant-garde looks, so that I can keep on-top of worldwide hair direction.

What are your hair predictions? Hair right now is all about solid cuts. Overly layered long hair is out and long bobs with minimal layering is what is really hot at the moment. Hair should sit just below the shoulder with healthy looking solid ends, it the hot look for 2014!

Your favourite celebrity hairstyle of all time? I loved Rihanna's short pixie crop, it inspired women worldwide to try a daring shorter look and also created a wave of copy cat celebrities which also adopted short pixie crops.

Product you can't live without and why? Kérastase Bain de Force, it is my favourite shampoo that I use on my own hair as it helps to strengthen and rebuild the hair with protein. This is great for blondes or people with weak and fine hair.

Describe your fashion style? My workday style is always sharp and well-dressed but on weekends I like to be more relaxed with boho styling, I love Nicole Ritchie's perfect mix of hippie luxe!

Last song you listened to? 'Chandelier' by Sia

What do you love most about Oscar Oscar Salons? I love working in a 5 star environment, that is highly professional. I feel blessed to be working with amazing salon guests and an inspiring team of hairdressers.

We spoke to our incredible Melbourne stylist, Sarah Brooks about the latest fringe colour craze for fashion-forward trendsetters.

The look: A focus on fringe colour is a really hot trend right now, either as a halo section on the area of the hair the light reflects on, or as an entire colour of its own which can blend or contrast with the remaining hair colour.

Where you have you seen this? Tokyo Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week, as well as on musicians Lily Allen and Grimes.

Who is this look suited to and why? Any guest with a fringe that wants an eye-catching look. It works best with guests that have strong geometric cuts and bold fringes for a really bold look. It is also a really fun way to introduce new colour placement and give your look a cool edge.

Sarah Brooks is available by appointment at Oscar Oscar Salons in Westfield Doncaster.

Our Sydney stylist, Paloma Rose Garcia was selected as a Redken Hair Director for the recent MBFWA Swarovski show, which featured beautiful cascading waves and luscious volume using our favourite Redken products!

"There is a very natural finish in the hair, not too shiny, not too matt, just natural. The hair is blowdried then tonged for a natural tousled look. Waves have a beachy finish with soft shape," explains Paloma.

- Apply Redken Rootful from roots to ends and blowdry the hair with round ceramic brushes to create smooth, soft texture.

- Spray the hair with Redken Fashion Works 12 before tonging. Using a large tong, take 1.5inch long vertical sections around the face and tong back off the face, leaving out the ends for a natural finish.

- Tong the rest of the hair in alternating directions for an unpolished wave.

- Once hair is completely tonged rake the hair with your fingers for a beach-vibe finish.

Oscar Cullinan, the owner & director of Oscar Oscar Salons selected the Acland St location due to it’s history as one of Melbourne’s most famous shopping and dining destinations.

Last week Witchery unveiled their A/W Modern Muse collection at the Carriageworks in Sydney in front of an A-list crowd of Austraila's top fashion bloggers and celebrities.

Our Sydney stylist, Amanda Kowalevsky was the Redken Hair Director for this Witchery event, so we got the low-down from Amanda on how to recreate this raw runway hair look...

1. Prep dry hair with Redken Rootful 06. Follow with Redken Guts 10 until the hair is completely wet.
2. Blast hair dry and create a centre part.
3. Next, take a tail comb and section from the left ear to the right ear.
4. Take the larger bottom section and pin in place at the nape of the neck.
5. Now, at the crown, split the top section into two – so you have two sections of hair either side of the centre part.
6. Then, smooth the top section down to conceal over any bobby pins near the neck. And, tuck hair behind the ears.
7. For contrast, backcomb or tousle the ends using your fingers.
8. To finish, spray Redken Shine Flash 02 on the roots – this will give it high shine. Then, dust Redken Powder Grip onto the ends for a dry finish.
9. Seal with hairspray.
