OSCAR x VOGUE FAIR 16

Posted on 11TH SEPTEMBER 2016

This year Vogue Fair made its debut on the Gold Coast and we were lucky enough to be a part of it.

The evening in salon was filled with smooth sounds from our resident DJ Marty, special discounts, styling sessions and Chandon aplenty.

We were also payed a visit by the Vogue Fair models (who, might I add, were total babes!) as our stylists prepped them for the catwalk.

Thanks to Vogue and Pacific Fair for such an incredible night - we're already counting down the days until next years #voguefair!

'DIRGE' BY SHANTELLE NEATE

Posted on 26TH FEBRUARY 2016

Blending precision cutting and colouring with relaxed, natural styling, the ‘Dirge’ photographic collection, by Shantelle Neate from Oscar Oscar Highpoint, is a coming together of high fashion with a do-it-yourself attitude.

Classic masculine foundations underpin this collection as Shantelle looked to the eclectic street fashion trends of Melbourne's coolest suburbs to reinvent the ideal of masculinity in her work.

This bold collection is currently a finalist in the 2016 Australian Hair Fashion Awards, Men's Hairdresser of the Year category.

'A PRIORI' BY JACKY CHAN

Posted on 26TH FEBRUARY 2016

Ultra-glamorous, voluptuous styling blended with on-trend colour, shape and texture makes up the visually engaging ‘A Priori’, a photographic collection by Jacky Chan, from Oscar Oscar Chadstone & St Kilda.

Jacky’s collection was inspired by the sensational and provocative era of the nineties. A time where supermodels reigned supreme and fashion designers such as Versace were dressing A-listers like Liz Hurley in barely there dresses held together by safety pins. The word ‘de jour’ was ‘whatever’ and grunge bands with a new sound set the soundtrack to a new generation.

This visually captivating collection is currently a finalist in the 2016 Australian Hair Fashion Awards, VIC Hairdresser of the Year category.

Backstage Pass: MBFFS

Posted on 25TH SEPTEMBER 2015

Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival is renown for showcasing the best of local, national and emerging fashion designers and providing a preview of the latest in new season trends. Paddington salon partner and Redken Hair Director Paloma Rose-Garcia takes us backstage of the opening Ready-To-Wear Runway Show with her look ‘Chic Modernity’.

“The sleek ponytail that I created for the Ready-To-Wear Runway show showcased a fusion of classic elegance and chic modernity. Anchored by a meticulous back braid, the look was constructed using Redken Styling Products,” – Paloma Rose-Garcia

CREATE THE LOOK

  1. On clean hair, create a centre part followed by a diamond section at the crown through the nape for the braid.
  2. Apply BRAID AID 03 Braid Defining Lotion to the braid section and create a classic French braid. Lightly fix the braid with FORCEFUL 23 Strength finishing spray.
  3. Apply ROOTFUL 06 Root Lifting Spray through the remaining section of loose hair and blow-dry to create a sleek and smooth finish.
  4. Lightly brush hair with a soft bristle brush.
  5. Pull all the hair with inclusive braid into a low ponytail.
  6. Remove fly-aways with FORCEFUL 23 Strength Finishing Spray.
  7. For a finishing touch, spread 2-3 drops of DIAMOND OIL Shatterproof Shine through the mid-lengths and ends to create multifaceted shine.

WITCHERY A/W PARADE

Posted on 13TH FEBRUARY 2014

Last week Witchery unveiled their A/W Modern Muse collection at the Carriageworks in Sydney in front of an A-list crowd of Austraila's top fashion bloggers and celebrities.

Our Sydney stylist, Amanda Kowalevsky was the Redken Hair Director for this Witchery event, so we got the low-down from Amanda on how to recreate this raw runway hair look...

GET THE HAIR LOOK
1. Prep dry hair with Redken Rootful 06. Follow with Redken Guts 10 until the hair is completely wet.
2. Blast hair dry and create a centre part.
3. Next, take a tail comb and section from the left ear to the right ear.
4. Take the larger bottom section and pin in place at the nape of the neck.
5. Now, at the crown, split the top section into two – so you have two sections of hair either side of the centre part.
6. Then, smooth the top section down to conceal over any bobby pins near the neck. And, tuck hair behind the ears.
7. For contrast, backcomb or tousle the ends using your fingers.
8. To finish, spray Redken Shine Flash 02 on the roots – this will give it high shine. Then, dust Redken Powder Grip onto the ends for a dry finish.
9. Seal with hairspray.
